Instructions to Candidates   

Carefully read the instructions. 

You must respond to both tasks. 

Write at least 150 words for Task 1.   

Write at least 250 words for Task 2.  

Write clearly in pen or pencil (ON THE ACTUAL EXAM). 

You may make changes, but your writing must be easy to  read. 

Hand in this paper and the question sheet at the end of the test.

This test paper has two questions.  

Task 2 is worth twice as many points as Task 1.

Summarize the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.

You should spend about 40 minutes on this task. Write about the following topic:  


Learning English at school is often seen as more important than learning local languages. If these are not taught, many are at risk of dying out. 

In your opinion, is it important for everyone to learn English? Should we try to ensure the survival of local languages and, if so, how?

Give reasons for your answer and include any relevant examples from your own knowledge or experience.
